Privacy Policy (Integritetspolicy)

This isn't something you need to accept. It's an explanation of what happens to your data when you use PrayNow, so that you know.

Who is responsible

PrayNow is run by Be Nu, ideell förening (a Swedish nonprofit association), org. no. 802557-5468, which is the data controller for the processing described here. If you have questions or want to exercise your rights, reach us at kontakt@praynow.se. Our postal address:

Our right to process your data rests on it being necessary to deliver the service to you (Article 6(1)(b) of the GDPR) — not on your consent.

What we store

An account (including a guest account, created automatically the first time you open the app), with an internal id and timestamps for when it was created and last used. If you register: your email address and a hashed password — never the password itself. The prayers and thanksgivings you write, and which ones you've prayed for. Your push-notification settings, including the token that identifies your device to the notification service.

What stays on our servers — and what doesn't

Before a prayer is published, nobody outside PrayNow reads it in order to judge it. Language detection, AI content screening, and estimating a location from your IP address all run on PrayNow's own servers. No outside company reads your text to decide whether it gets published. Your IP address may also be recorded in our own server logs, both when you use the app and when you visit the website.

But once a prayer is published, a short excerpt of it — the first hundred characters — is sent to Google, so the push notification can reach other users' devices. If you use the iOS app, the same excerpt is also sent to Apple, for the same reason. That's the only data that leaves our servers, and it only applies to text that's already visible to everyone in the app.

How long we keep data

A guest account that goes unused for about a month is automatically deleted, along with everything tied to it: prayers, prayer actions, and notification settings. Signing in again before then resets the clock. A registered account is kept until you delete it yourself.

If you delete your account, we remove your prayers, your prayer actions, and your notification settings along with it. One exception: statistics rows that count events — what kind of event, in which city and country, and when — are kept. They aren't linked to any account or person, so they don't count as personal data.

Where the servers are

PrayNow's servers, including the ones running screening and location estimation, are within the EU/EEA.

Your rights

You have the right to know what data we hold about you, to have incorrect data corrected, and to have your data deleted. Most of that you can do yourself in the app — deleting your account removes what's described above. If you think we're handling your data wrongly, you have the right to complain to Integritetsskyddsmyndigheten (IMY), Sweden's data protection authority.

If the texts disagree

This policy also exists in Swedish. If the Swedish and English texts say different things, the Swedish text governs.
